Every project starts with a character I’m excited to explore more deeply. Getting behind their eyes - what I call deep empathy - is what energizes me.

Growing up in New Jersey, I was inspired by the electricity and raw empathy of New York theater. I went to every show I could and wrote plays for kid’s magazines.

Hooked on drama, I came to LA and was fortunate to have the opportunity to develop pilots with producers at NBC. My career in screenwriting started when I sold a psychological drama to ABC. Then, two feature scripts were optioned for film, several times, by several production companies. Over the years, I’ve developed and sold material to ABC, Disney, Imagine, The Food Network, Mattel, and Universal, among others.

A foodie, I wrote and post-produced twelve episodes of the weekly Food Network documentary, “The Secret Life Of…” an entertaining, in-depth look at the history of food.

When I was hired by Glisten+ to develop two fictional podcast series — a YA romantic drama, and magical realism adventure — it sparked the beginning of a new path to prose fiction, something I’ve held in my heart since I was a young child. I’m so excited to share that I’m now writing my debut novel, a coming-of-age YA dystopian tale of first love, hard-won agency, resistance, and one very complicated robot-nanny..

I’m a graduate of Syracuse University’s School of Journalism and The American Film Institute screenwriting program, and a proud member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre Playwrights Unit, The Dramatist’s Guild, and the Writer’s Guild of America, west.

I live in Pasadena, CA with my husband, fine artist David Palmer, and can be found writing in cafes around town with our mighty Labradoodle, Wilson.
